Bathroom Tile Ideas - Which Are The Most Viable Options?

By: Graham Lavery

Bathroom tile designs are diverse and you must take a moment and think in order to decide for the best option for your bathroom.

Ceramic bathroom floor is a good solution because of its durability, safety guarantees, the maintaining conditions and resistance to humidity. For a safer bathroom tile floor, choose a slip resistant material. The tiles come in different shapes and sizes. You may go for the one that you like the most. Another thing: the unglazed tiles tend to absorb stains very easily, so they must be washed frequently.

Choose from the following ideas:

1. For a more interesting bathroom floor, add tile borders of a different color or play a little, by alternating different colors.

2. If you want an amazing visual effect, use the same color ceramic tiles for floors and walls, but alternate the size of the tile from walls to floors.

3. Another thing that you can play with for obtaining different effects is the color of the grout. Blue, red or yellow grout works well with white tiles. In order to protect the grout color, put sealers to the grout lines in the most used parts of the floor.

4. Use decorative tiles for walls, or combine different shapes, textures and borders. Choose a color that works with the rest of the design. On some rows of the walls you can place some of the decorative tiles to create a model.

5. For a modern look, go for bold and bright colors and interesting graphics projected on the plain backgrounds.

6. Floral tiles in colors like pink, light green or light blue are ideal to give your bathroom a Victorian look.

7. Combine tiles made of terracotta with hand painted tiles on the floors. This will give your bathroom a Mediterranean look.

Colors and shapes are important when you want to borrow your bathroom a certain feel. Peach and yellow colors make it feel cozier and they work well in a country looking decor. If you want your bathroom to feel more spacious, neutral colors are the best. Strong, cool colors, like blue or green have the opposite effect, making the bathroom look smaller. This is great for bathroom with many windows and natural light.

A great atmosphere can be created in a bathroom just by playing with the color and the shape and the patterns of the bathroom tiles. Use some of these ideas to put your fingerprint on your bathroom design.
