Normally, you can easily spot a scam when you see one but sometimes, we can be blinded by false promises and ads. An example of email lookup scams would be offering you their so-called "free trial," which may range from a day, a week, or a month, only to find out afterwards that they would need your credit card information. Other "companies" may not charge you anything, however, the information they will give you are pretty much useless, such as the name of the internet provider of the user. What good will this do, anyway?
