The Toyota Caldina was rolled out into the Japanese market in 1992, having replaced the Toyota Carina Surf. The sad thing for those outside the Japanese market place is that they were never exported outside of their native land. Although the new Caldinas were never exported outside Japan, the used varieties of the Caldina as well as the Caldina Wagon can be found in parts of South America, Bolivia and eastern Russia. They have become so popular in these areas of the world because of the tremendous quality and the fact that they have four wheel drive capabilities. So the Cladina Wagon not only provided for extra storage space, but it could also handle some of the mountain-ness, or rougher, steeper terrain.
