Deciding Own Small Business- Getting your Family Involved

By: jane maria

The catalyst to this decision was when we determined that our son was just not thriving in his daycare situation. Now believe me, we paid top dollar, had the best references etc. But still, it wasn't working. I had grappled with the decision to be a stay at home during my family leave of three months.

I spent as much time as I could hiding out in the women's restroom crying. After Fighting back tears and forcing myself to be stoic, I settled into my corporate routine and bought into the whole "your son is better off with you working, you don't want to give up your career that you've worked so hard for, you'll never make it financially without your income thing!.

The truth of the matter is this, no child is better off in the care of someone else unless their parents are unfit. No one has your child's best interest at heart the way you do, period. It's a simple truth, unfortunately some still refuse to accept it by coming out with studies, statistics and opinions that are nothing more than platitudes for justifying greed or self indulgence.

Starting Small Business

The scenario that I am speaking about is a Married Couple both working out of the Home and filing jointly on their tax returns. Do you fit this bill? If you want to find out just how much your wages as a 2ND income worker are affecting your family's finances, check out this free tool The MSN Second Income Calculator.

In the second part she researched all neccesary abbilities of women who like to start up their own business, make differences among women and men owners and gave advices to them. Additionaly, she made some very important questions

which need answers for all prospective owners as following:

* What is my reason for starting a business?
* What type of business can I start?
* What skills, interests, and personal qualities will I bring to the business?
* What are my strengths and weaknesses as a business owner?
* What fears must I overcome?

Everything they discover will contribute to their idea's potential for success. That ideas are the currency of entrepreneurs and therefore they must play with many ideas and see which ones bring money and success.

Other business ideas simply aren't marketable in some trade area or there might be too much competition already. They may or may not have enough capital to get the business off the ground or to secure adequate business financing. So this book provides the tools with which to make decision whether or not to open own small business.

Family involved In home business

Is your family involved with your daily business? It is an easy trap to get into. Why take the time to explain the job, show them how it should be done, make sure it is done properly, and then possibly have to redo the project if
it is not done to your liking? The question is: what are you going to do about it?

You basically have two options: Do everything yourself or invest the time to get your family involved. For me, the second one is the ONLY option.

First off, if you are doing everything yourself, you are probably spending a lot more time with your business than with your family. Secondly, you are depriving your spouse and children of the joy of owning a home business.

Here are a few ideas that you can implement to start getting your family involved.

SPOUSE: If your spouse is not involved with you in your home business you are missing a great opportunity to spend some much needed time with him/her. I know, this may not be everyone’s idea of quality time with your beloved, but is it not better than the alternate – you doing your thing and he/she doing theirs? If your spouse is not in tune with what you are doing, do what you can to peak their interest and get them involved today.

TEENAGERS: This is the group you need to get! There are so many things that a teen can get involved with (sports, music, friends, drugs). Wouldn’t it be nice if what they are involved with were your business? If you have been giving them jobs as younger children then most likely they are already involved. If you are just getting started with your business and/or getting to those teens, try giving them some things that they might not expect that you would delegate to them (typing a letter or making a call to a supplier to place an order). Let them see that you have the confidence in them and they will respond likewise.

YOUNG CHILDREN: Obviously there is not much for a toddler to do, but as they grow older you can give them small jobs to start out (dumping your trash can, sharpening your pencils, etc.) and continuing to give them more challenging jobs as they become more mature. No matter what the job, kids feel a sense of pride in knowing they are “pitching in”.

In conclusion, do whatever you can to get your family involved. Not only will it alleviate some of your workload, it can truly draw you family closer together.
