Organization Is The Key To Success

How many times have you seen it? You walk into an office looking to pick up some paper work and the clerk can’t find what you were suppose to pick up because there is papers everywhere and nobody knows where anything is. How professional is that? Don’t fall into this trap! Organization is the key to success!

If you want your business to be successful then you need to make sure it’s organized. Whether you are a one man band or employee hundreds of people organization is important of being productive.

Organization helps you work efficiently and faster. It also makes you look a lot more professional for clients. And even if clients don’t physically come to your location if you are organized you will be able to quickly answer emails or telephone inquiries. And you’ll be a lot less stressed!

Whether you work from your home, your office, or spend most of your time on the road there are some key things that can keep you organized. Have your pens and pencils handy and contained, note paper by your side, a small filing system right on your desk where you can quickly access files that in process, and keep your desk space clear of junk.

If you spend most of your time on the road then you need to make sure your back is compact but yet holds everything you are going to need. This type of business organization can be the most difficult. There’s no point in breaking your shoulder to carry this humongous bag that you can’t find anything in anyway.

Instead bring along a 5 or 6 dependable pens, a pencil and sharpener if you need it, calculator, notepad, daytimer, and your cell phone, as well as any correspondence or literature you’ll need. Make sure the extras are neatly organized either in binders, folder, or with clips. You’ll also look a lot more professional.

Zip lock bags are great organizers and they are available in a variety of thicknesses and sizes. If you are carrying a laptop then buy a case that has additional compartments for your office supplies. That way you won’t have to pack two bags which can be heavy and cumbersome.

If you’re not on the move and your work space is a desk, organizing isn’t difficult at all. First place your computer monitor and keyboard in a comfortable position. That way you know what desk space you have left. Get a small desk top file holder or one of the three tiered styles, and a few file folders. You can even use a shoe box. This will allow you to have the files you are working with right at your fingertips.

Make sure your telephone is a handy position and that you have a wastepaper basket right by your desk. Buy a pen holder or take a glass or coffee cup and put all your pens and pencils in it. Too many then leave a handful out and put the rest away for later. Place your tape and stapler within easy reach.

An inbox works well because you know then that this stuff needs you to look at it right away. If you have to be working with files through out the week. You can make a file system that has each day of the week. Then when you do something on Tuesday that has to be followed up on Friday you move it to Fridays file. You’ll know exactly what you need to deal with each day.

Get a cork board and put it on the wall near you. These are cheap and a terrific tool! You can keep all the stuff you refer to on a regular basis tacked to the board. Easy and convenient.

Your computer needs to be kept organized too. Get rid of old files you don’t need anymore. That includes old email and pictures. If you want to keep them for later reference burn them to a CD, label it and put it in safe storage.

An organized desk will only contain the things you use every day. If you don’t use it on a daily basis it doesn’t belong on your desk top. Find another home for it.

Staying organized will make you more efficient and much happier. Remember organization is the key to success!
