Times Have Changed! Run Your Business Across Timezones

The times they are a changing, today you can run your business around the world without having to worry about multiple timezones. Thanks to the internet and website development time zones are no longer an issue for business entrepreneurs. Yes times have certainly changed!

When someone acts you were you work, what do you answer? What you should be saying is you work around the globe. Each year more and more people are working from home. Entrepreneurs are choosing to market and sell their product around the globe from the comfort of their home.

Besides the ability to work through time zones, what’s so great about working from home? Well let’s start with your morning coffee, sipped in your pj’s while you answer email. Suddenly your wardrobe means nothing. If you want to stay in your pajamas all day you can.

At first you might find it a bit lonely especially if you come from a busy office environment. But soon you’ll be loving it! No more boss standing over your shoulders, no more 9 to 5, work when you want for as long as you want. So if you’re an early riser get your work done early, if you love the silence of night then work through the night.

And really your office isn’t that lonely. Think about it. You are connected to hundreds of thousands of other entrepreneurs around the world doing exactly what you are doing. You all work around the globe. And then you’ll have all those customers crowding into your virtual store to buy your products. How can you possibly be lonely?

In fact over time you’ll find that your office is so busy you need some time out. But when you work at home you can grab your sneakers, go for a walk, enjoy the summer sun, and then return refreshed a pick up where you left off.

Your customers will come from almost every corner of the globe. If there is internet access they are a potential customer that you can access. And if your site is set up correctly timezones will be meaningless.

Let’s say a customer on the other side of the globe emails you but here it is the middle of the night. If you have a good auto responder, an email will automatically be sent to them confirming receipt and that you will answer as soon as possible. You might even note the time zone you live in. Then when you rise and answer your email you can promptly reply to the customer’s inquiry.

When dealing with a global market there are a few things that can cause you a bit of trouble but are easy to resolve. Some parts of the world use metric while others use the imperial system so effectively there will always be potential customers that don’t understand your measurements. You can handle this be either including both or including a conversion program.

Language can also be a barrier, however many webmasters are now offering their websites in several languages which gives them a lead over their competition.

Spelling can also be a bit of an issue. Will that be color or colour, center or centre, honor or honour? You’ll have to make a decision and live with it. You can also be a little creative and show the spelling both ways within your page increasing your chance of showing up on the SEO for both.

Currency is relatively easy. US dollars have been accepted as the currency of the internet. So putting your prices in US dollars is the way to do your pricing. And if you accept Paypal as a payment method you can allow customers from around the globe to pay in their currency and then you can convert it via Paypal.

Who would have thought even 10 year ago that our world would have become so interconnected? Who would have thought that so many people would be able to make a living at home simply using a computer and internet connection? The times they are a changing! What the future holds we can only imagine!
