As I have demonstrated in my previous article, the use of homeopathic software can greatly facilitate the process of finding the simillimum for the patient's state. I have compared the process of using homeopathic repertories in an electronic form (as in a homeopathic software) against the manual searching of the paper book.
Another fact that can be easily established and can play a vital part in the homeopathic practice is the financial aspect. Yeah, as idealistic as homeopathy may sound, the financial aspect is clearly present here.
The financial aspect, in my opinion, is one of the most absurd and ridiculous things about homeopathy. Using homeopathic science, we have a way of curing the suffering people basically for a price of clean water and some manual work (potentization process, that is), yet we need to spend piles of money to be able to select the suitable substance from which to prepare the remedy... In other words, you need to purchase homeopathic books to study and to base your prescriptions on. And to become sufficiently acquainted with homeopathy, you need a great number of such books.
So, let me say this clear and loud – if you want to have all those fantastic homeopathic books, it's going to cost you! If you start making a wish list of the homeopathic books you would like to have, you'll start counting thousands of dollars after just a few minutes. This is where having a good homeopathic software can help you out and save you a lot of money.
With homeopathic books, as with all other books, there is a cost of paper, printing, distribution, to name just a few. With hundreds and sometimes thousands of pages, limited target market, the price of any homeopathic book is bound to be high. In homeopathic software, there are no such costs – the text is stored as a stream of bits and bytes on a computer hard disk, which costs virtually nothing. The only costs involved are those spent on the conversion process from the paper book to an electronic book. Although such costs of converting a book to an electronic form, suitable for use in a homeopathic software, can be considerable, they are still way lower than in book publishing business. This allows the producer of homeopathic software to offer you the same books, but for a much better price. If this is not the case, then stay away from such homeopathic software, it's a clear sign they are trying to rip you off. (Unfortunately, there are some homeopathic software producers that are doing exactly this, hence the warning.)
Conclusion: while it does not eliminate the costs altogether, having the majority of the homeopathic books in your homeopathic software can reduce them considerably. Needless to say, you'll save a huge amount of space on your bookshelves!
In the next part, I'll say a few words about the type of books you want and don't want to have in a homeopathic software.
