1. Letter Mail - Letter mail is the most used and most convenient service offered by the post. You can use it to send personal letters, business documents, invoices, cards, a postcard, a receipt, a CD or DVD, reports. Letter mail can classified as regular size [standard], a non standard size, or over size.
You cannot send items such as coins, jewelry, keys, pens, seeds, magnets, caps, liquids such as perfume, glass, or anything prohibited by law using letter mail
2. Parcel Post - Regular parcel post is the cheapest method to send a parcel but it also takes the longest. If you are sending a parcel international using parcel post you could be looking at 8 weeks for delivery. Within your own country 10 to 14 days, and within your own region 3 to 5 days. A package can be sent parcel post providing it meets the package size restrictions of the post office.
3. Expedited Parcel - Expedited parcel is a quicker way of getting your parcel to it’s destination within the country. You can expect delivery anywhere within Canada as early as 2 days and no longer than 7 days. Local parcels receive next day delivery. Expedited parcel is only available to Ventureone members and business customers under contract. You can ship expedited parcel post if your package meets the package size restrictions of the post office.
4. COD - COD stands for Collect on Delivery and can be utilized with Priority Courier Service, Xpresspost, Expedited and Regular Parcel Post. When the package is delivered the recipient must pay the amount due to the Canada Post employee. The payment methods accepted are set out by the sender. You can send a package with a value of up to $1000 COD cash, or $25,000 if you accept a check, traveler’s check, or money order. Items with a value of over $500 must be picked up by the recipient at their local post office.
5. Purolator Overnight - The post office has engaged in a contract with Purolator so that they may offer an overnight delivery service. Packages sent using the overnight service must be sent in a Puroletter or Puropack and must meet the size and weight requirements set out by the post office. Overnight service is available from major city to major city. For other destinations you can expect arrival to be longer.
Packages that qualify receive the on time delivery guarantee. All Purolator packages come with electronic tracking, delivery confirmation, loss coverage up to $100, and signature.
6. Addressed Admail - Admail is a form of direct marketing where the business applies personalized labels to the promotional material being sent, and the material is delivered by the post. Admail rates are effective for minimum quantities of 1000 and can be used to mail promotional catalogues, newsletters, CDs, samples, publications, or any other promotional material.
7. Small Packets - Small packet rates are available for packages traveling international weighing over 1 kg but under 2 kg. These rates are cheaper than using Xpresspost but delivery periods can range from 8 to 14 weeks depending on the destination.
8. Registered Mail - Registered mail provides the sender with proof of the recipient’s receipt of the package via signature. Letter mail and documents can both be sent registered. As well some goods can be sent registered mail.
9. Xpresspost - Xpresspost is the newest service offering speedier deliveries. 1 to 2 day deliveries anywhere within the country to major cities and 7 day deliveries to other parts of the world. You can use the Xpresspost service if your package meets the requirements of size and weight.
10. Priority Courier - Priority courier is offers delivery within 2 days to major cities within the country. It is comparable to the Xpresspost service with fewer size and weight restrictions.
These 10 services offered by the postal services will ensure you have choices in shipping methods, so no matter what you have to ship or how fast you need to get it there, the post office can do it for you.
