1. Your business card can be a great ice breaker.
When networking or in a meeting, your business card can be one great means to break the ice and start a conversation. Especially when you have something different and unique. It can be a good source of conversation between you and your prospects and clients. Remember that you want to stand out to be noticed, right? Well, that is the perfect time to do that when you hand out your distinct color business cards. Create that positive impression with your print cards and youll definitely be remembered and even kept for show-and-tell.
2. Your business card should be easy to scan.
Now that were in the age where computers and the Internet are ubiquitous, it should be easy for your clients and prospects to scan your information and get them in digital form. Hence, even if your prospects and clients lose your card, they still have a digital copy in their keeping.
3. Use regular and standard shapes and sizes, and veer away from the unusual.
I know, I know. You want to stand out thats why youre looking at creating an unusual design for your color business cards. But guess what. Your cards dont fit inside binders and holders. And they definitely dont fit inside wallets and billfolds. It sucks in the way of creativity. But if they dont fit well, you might as well forget it as your clients and prospects would not even keep it.
4. Ensure that the basic elements are in your cards.
This is actually a no brainer. Lets just reiterate for the sake of reiterating your name, title, company name, address, telephone, fax and mobile numbers, email address, and a website URL if you have any. Oh, and dont forget your logo. It should be there too.
5. Use a tagline.
The tagline should be able to state what you actually do. Your information would be useless if your clients and prospects would have a hard time identifying what you or your company can do for them. If your card doesnt tell a thing about your business then dump it. Just think about this: after a year or two down the road, will your prospect remember you? Or even right after your initial meeting, how can your prospect remember what you do if you dont spell it out to them.
6. Use a picture.
A picture does say a thousand words, and yours will help your clients to remember you that easily.
7. Use the back part an unchartered space of real estate to get more information in your small piece of paper.
