Importance of information to businesses

In business it is important that ones takes informed decisions in order to maximize profits. One person once said a greatest assert a company has is its information. I couldn't agree more but well with in reason.

Acquiring information is important but it is equally important that ones goes about it the correct way. The field of research has never been so complicated as well as easy at the same time. The emergence of the Internet has provided access to information which one could only dream about a decade ago. The information is so vast that others fear information overload. The quantity of information on line is amazing but the quality of some of the work is very much questionable hence one has th evaluate the source of the information. The Internet has managed to internationalize research hence you can link up with a number of people interested in different fields and share expertise as well as evaluations.

It is important that as ones goes about researching one adapts high standard of scientific standards. If your budget can allow it its always handy to buy some research data from reputable companies and understand how they would have conducted the research . If you take ten random people and ask them if they like a particular product they might give you an answer but you have to understand all the draw back of the size of your research hence buying research statistics can be economical as you would benefit from the size you other wise would not be able to achieve.

Knowledge is very important if one is to be successful in business one has to understand the market they are in . Take search engine optimization for example one has to be able to get hold of past statistics on searches and by evaluating there one is able to predict the future . As humans we learn from our history to be able to predict our future.

Conducting research can be in a number of different fields. Take my chosen area i want to look closer in – the web use trends. By understanding how different people use the Internet i can have a better understanding as to what my website as well as my marketing strategy should be herded. I tried to look at what are the main categories web users could be put in . I found it interesting that the Internet being so be and varied it was impossible to give Internet users in basic categories .It was interesting to find out users although they are all part of a global village still showed traits which were geographic in nature.

A lot of resources put surfers into two main categories which where browsers and searchers. Browsers where you average person who is time rich and kills time on line and they are more likely to follow links on a website and read the content on a website and are more likely not to have anything in particular they are looking for and could probably just buy something that inspires them. The second category of web surfers was your researcher who uses the Internet to get things done is most likely not to have a lot of time on their hands . In this category comes someone who is looking for a bargain and relentlessly hunts for one.

The lacks of distinct categories was interesting then i looked at the more geographic demographical analysis of web users this is where i unearthed a lot of useful data . A lot of data collected on web users tends not provide a full picture as to how they use the web which can be quantified and converted into sound business technology. Take the national statistics office reveled an interesting trait on on line use . The linking of Internet use to the level of education was interesting . It reveled that the number of Internet users where more educated although a number of libraries provide free Internet access. As a business man such a statistic would serve to reinforce the fact that your potential customers are sophisticated professionals who expect a certain level of quality. A different survey went on to reveal 92 % of people understood the Internet and the information available could be misleading at times and varied the level of cynicism to the website they were on. Take a website like the bbc it is very trusted and surfers would regard most of their information as accurate but a little unknown brand would be faced with a little more cynicism. Despite this a survey in 2006 on browsers showed that 12 % of Internet Explorer 5 users had the latest browser and all other major browsers didn't do well which proved a lot of people have old browsers.

On analysis the two statistics provide an interesting trend although Internet users understand its in their best interests to have the latest technology they don't always do what is good for them. As my time doing this rather brief study came to a close I had not managed to come up with ground breaking trends But i realized that more research was needed to understand better the web surfer trends . I have no doubt that a lot of small researches have already be done but one major upon geographic research and analysis are needed. Take search engine optimization keyword statistics although they are a valuable tools to know how people search we need to understand a bit more how web users behave and only by knowing this can we better adapt our businesses to better serve our customers.

Good quality web development
